Corte por Chorro de Arena

What is this technique? How does it work? What is the advantage compared to other processes? Can it be compared to a laser?

The water jet cutting technique consists of a pump that releases a jet of water at a high pressure, reaching almost 94,000 psi, this pressure passes through a super thin hole giving it the possibility of cutting materials. In this case the water jet alone can cut soft materials.

If we wish to have greater power, an abrasive material (such as silica sand) is included, increasing the pressure up to 1000 times, allowing cutting materials up to 30cm thick.

What materials can I cut without the abrasive material?

  • Rubber
  • vehicle tapestry
  • Paperboard
  • Paper
  • Rubber
  • fibrio fiber
  • Polypropylene
  • Acrylic.

What materials can be cut using the abrasive material?

  • Marble
  • Ceramics
  • Glass
  • Aluminum
  • Titanium
  • Bronze
  • Steel

What are the main applications?

In the local market, it is used in cutting marble pieces, applied in the construction and finishing of materials, it is also applied in metals for the creation of pieces and decorations.

What is the investment cost?

Depending on the size, this machine can range from US$8,000 to US$100,000.

We hope that this brief introduction to water jet cutting machines has been helpful, we hope that you may be interested in the process for further investigation.
