Common Errors of Your DTF L1390

Common Errors of Your DTF L1390

In this blog post, we aim to highlight the most common errors you might encounter with your DTF L1390 printer and how to fix them.

In the world of textile printing, Direct to Film (DTF) technology has gained widespread popularity due to its versatility and efficiency, allowing small and medium-sized businesses to produce high-quality prints at low costs. Among the most common printer models, the DTF L1390/L1800 stands out for its reliability and print quality. However, like any technological equipment, it can experience issues. In this article, we'll explore the most common problems associated with the DTF L1390/1800 printer and how to resolve them to keep it running smoothly.

Common Errors and Solutions

Alternating Blinking Lights

This indicates an issue with your machine's pads. It’s a reminder that the waste ink pad is reaching the end of its lifespan and needs replacement. To resolve this, reset the printer using a software tool, and you’ll be able to resume printing.

Simultaneous Red Blinking Lights

This may indicate:

  • Paper Jams: One frequent issue with DTF printers is paper jams. This could be due to using non-compliant paper or incorrect paper placement.
  • Head Station Issues: After printing, the print head rests on an ink station. If this station is blocked or obstructed, the printer will show an error.
  • Paper Sensor Problems: Dirt or defects on the paper sensor can prevent it from properly detecting the paper.
  • Motherboard Connection Failures: If the motherboard fails to detect components like the print head, an error will occur.

Missing Colors or No Printing

This issue can have various causes, such as:

  • Print Head Obstructions: Frequent use or lack of maintenance can block the print head. Regular maintenance is crucial to prevent or resolve blockages.
  • Software Misconfiguration: Ensure all parameters are correctly set in the software to enable proper printing.
  • Motherboard Failure: Liquid entering the print head can damage the motherboard, disrupting the printing process.
  • Empty or Improperly Installed Ink Cartridges: If a cartridge is empty or not correctly installed, the printer won’t function.

Specific Issues

Light or Transparent White Ink

This is a common issue with several possible causes:

  • Empty or Improperly Installed Ink Cartridges: Ensure cartridges are full and installed correctly.
  • Air Bubbles in Ink Lines: If ink has receded into the bottle, extract 5ml of ink from the damper to refill the tube. Then, perform a nozzle check and print a test page to ensure the print head’s condition.
  • Watery White Ink: This could be due to ink quality. Shake the white ink bottle well before pouring it into the tank to ensure proper concentration.

Scratches on the Print

If DTF prints are scratched by the print head or smudged with other pigments, check for solidified ink underneath the print head.

Design Not Transferring

If the design doesn’t transfer properly to the fabric or material, it may be due to incorrect heat press settings or insufficient application of the adhesive powder.

Although the DTF L1390 is an excellent tool for textile printing, understanding common issues and their solutions can save significant time and resources. Regular maintenance not only helps prevent these problems but also ensures your printer’s longevity and efficiency.
